Chloe A. VunCannon, born and raised in a Southern Christian home, utilizes her Faith in ways which drives her artwork, whether they be directly related to her Faith or give her the encouragement to keep pushing forward.

VunCannon is a sculpture concentration who currently lives in Troy, NC and is pursuing a B.F.A. degree at Appalachian State University concentrating in sculpture. She fabricates primarily in steelworks, but enjoys working in other media as well, such as metalsmithing, woodworking, clay, painting and drawing, and many more. She creates challenges for herself through her artwork to problem-solve her way through, which maintains her interest in each piece.

When VunCannon is not in the studio, she is either brainstorming ways to start or complete projects, enjoying the outdoors, reading the newest fantasy novel, or meditating on her Faith. She utilizes her outside interests to spur inspiration for her projects to make each one unique to the situations in her life.

So far, VunCannon has exhibited works in two Tri-State Sculptor’s Association Conference in the Members’ Show (Falls of 2021 and 2022). She has also exhibited in the Juried exhibition of the Student Art and Design Expo (Winter 2022). Recently, Chloe was awarded of the Sherry Edwards Memorial Scholarship and the Rosen Scholarship for Art (Winter 2022) through Appalachian State University’s Art Department.
